D2.2 Legal and Ethical Framework for SoBigData

This deliverable considers the legal and ethical aspects of the SoBigData project. The SoBigData infrastructure is connected to the European Research Infrastructure for Big Data and Social Mining and accumulates various datasets from different sources, including social media content (like tweets, blogs, etc), call graphs from mobile phone call data, networks crawled from many online social networks, including Facebook and Flickr, etc. This mass collection of data raises difficult legal and ethical questions about the limitations on the kind of data collected, informed consent, division of legal responsibilities and possible harms and injustices to the individuals whose information is being collected.
